3 Tips For Finding Safe Water In The Wilderness
I didn't mention pollution while filming this video, however, it's a very serious concern in today's time for wild water. Flood water like what is pictured can carry untold amounts of contaminants and even if boiled, should only be drank as a last resort. This subject deserves an entire video of its own.
This section of the river that created this backflow is far inland away from many sources of pollution.
Finding clean water in the wilderness is a challenge pretty much no matter where you are. But wherever you are, water tends to behave the same. It follows gravity and flows downhill and pools. How we get clean water from that source, is pretty simple. filter it, boil it, purify it, or risk it. I don't advise the latter.

A Delicious Wild Fruit Called PawPaw

The Pawpaw (Latin Asimina Triloba) is commonly mistaken for Paypaya due to the similar names however they are two different things. The Pawpaw derives it's name from indigenous Native American languages. This cool tree is native to Eastern North America and it does very well in deciduous forests, and near rich lowlands. I have heard and found it in higher dryer areas however to a lesser extent ...

Thanks !
Another fun tip: if you like dandelion tea, you can add sugar and some source of pectin (the store-bought stuff, lemon peel, apple skins, etc.) to make it into dandelion jelly. This works the same as with jelly made from fruit juice. Lots of recipes available on the web. A word of warning though: the white sap in dandelions is a form of latex. If a person has latex allergies, dandelion roots and leaves are not for them. The flowers might be okay, if one is mildly allergic; there's no latex in them, but there's still potential contamination from the sap at the flower's base.
Good job 👍🏻
Plug the hole after.. You selfish bastards... lol
Holy f****ing sh** YOU’RE BACK! 👏👏👏
I was thinking Rambo couldn't have done all that in backwoods of Jerkwater USA w his limited time being tracked. Also, I obtained a solid ESEE 6 survival knife and was practice carving some pine wood slivers, much more solid spears, I wonder about how solid the limb and the spikes should be ideally
I found them in Bulgaria
Is this water, or sap/resin? How do you make sure you get water, instead of sap?
Can u show that fish catcher thing?
What kind of knife do you have that stays sharp?
Wouldn’t it be better to put it higher up to keep animals from contaminating the water. Urinating, drinking, saliva, etc?
How did you manage to get bamboo?
Good video
Thank you very much for this perfect video
Any tips on how to gut the fish? Plus example of non-poisonous leaves - Sycamore or any deciduous trees etc?
If it's impaling something, it isn't blunt force trauma.
Love your great lessons.
The opening scene of "Apocalypto" nicely depicts the practical application of this type of trap: ua-cam.com/video/CNrEw9YW7_Q/v-deo.html (Your trigger seems more legit)
A convenient thing about animals: They can't read. ...For any type of trap being legally set, if the circumstances allow, one could put a big warning sign up to help avoid tragedy.
I see the video is years old and you probably know by now, but streamlight makes a hub that can hold up to eight 18650 batteries. I’ve been using mine for a while in my patrol car and I very much enjoy it.
I wonder who first thought of traps like this, the human mind is incredible.
actually if you have extra you wouldn’t wanna wrap around and use the rest, you’d wanna cut it right there so you could use the left over for something else that could help you in a survival situation
With a bit of variation, it would also make a good boobytrap in a survival situation .
It’s amazing how detached we have become from nature.
Great Flick! Hope to see more of You.
These are perfect. I’m not planning on going swimming with them.
Do not shake the trees as vigorously as you demonstrate.
Ponderosa and Lodgepole pines are edible and medicinal, and have long been used as such. They are NOT poisonous.
No sabía que los españoles hiciéramos ese tipo de trampas. 😮 Si acaso la de "lazo" para lobos, jabalíes, conejos. Y los cepos para aves.
instead of a stick why not a rock, a rock will likely break and or crush a skull.. a stick is likely to scrape the skull from top and down the side leaving a injured animal to die off in the woods. if you used a rake more then obe pointed kill stick might improve your chances ...... unless your checking this trap real often/.... you be better off with a live trap so the meat is fresh till YOU kill it..
Is the how-to for all types of trees or what? Thanks
Is the water safe ?
Awesome loadout!
How amazing.....
I have a student trying to recreate this for a wilderness class. Does anyone know if/which indigenous peoples used these?
Thanks just bought a pair. I'm glad they are very water resistant. I won't be immersing then in water I just need it to prevent water from snow getting in. I didn't wanna put them in direct water on purpose.
l think that in this case you should have taken video from first person view to get full picture. Now l have to watch several times to follow each step to replicate what you did. For example in 2:17. l had do give dislike.
That may be an Ozark Chinquapin. Very rare. There is the Ozark Chinquapin Foundation and they are looking for those trees to preserve them and to reestablish them. Previously the Chinquapin was known as a bush, but now they've determined that the larger tree species is different. Very unique.
5:01 5:02 live daily like the s already hit the fan and you are ready 😮😊
Nice video to de-stress to after a hectic day and i think I just saw your dog near the end.
You could also hit your socks around a small bush or grassfield and than squeeze it in your mouth again, nice and informational vid!
I see you've stepped up your game with the Zoom H4n Pro audio. Very nice Cody! 😃👍
That's amazing.... that if I were looking out my window at home ? I would think ... UGH! What a crappy day ! BUT ! NEVER AGAIN . JUST LOVELY .😊❤
